Welcome!

Friday, 12th September, 2008

I’m Steven Seymour, a wedding photographer based in the Highlands of Scotland. My aim is to photograph people as creatively and thoughtfully as I possibly can during one of the most important events in their lives. Together with my wife, Elspeth, who joins me for many weddings, I travel widely to capture the images you see here.

This page is where I share recent images and stories about what I’ve been doing. It’s long - scroll down for more. The navigation bar above will guide you to more detailed information about my wedding photography and other services and products. If you’re looking for something specific try the search tool at page top or bottom. Feel free to add a comment using the link under each post, and/or subscribe for updates.

If you like what you see and you want to discuss a booking you can contact me here.

The Munro Family in Caithness

Monday, 29th September, 2008

Just got back from a trip to the far North - to Thurso, in fact - where I was photographing the Munro family. It was a post-wedding shoot for John and Naomi (married at Inverlochy Castle on 6 September) instead of a pre-wedding shoot. It was our first time in Caithness and we were well looked after. What a beautiful landscape - the skies are so huge and expressive, as the last image in this series suggests:

Tom & Alex: Sneak Previews

Wednesday, 24th September, 2008

Here’s a preview of some images from Tom and Alex’s wedding last Saturday at The Potting Shed in Applecross.

Tom and Alex are both medics, so we went expecting the occasion to be quite sedate, with sensible people behaving sensibly and what not. Oh my. How wrong we were! There were some quite mad people there. And we had an absolute blast! There were many, many occasions when I snapped the shutter, checked the camera screen, and burst out laughing at what I was seeing. There’s just a hint of this in these images (e.g. man in red wig, and bride & bridesmaids doing the can-can in loud wellies) because it was also, and more importantly, a beautiful event, with the love between Tom and Alex both extraordinarily strong and moving.

But there are some really funny shots too, and in a few weeks, after Tom and Alex have returned from their honeymoon in Tanzania and seen and selected (censored?) their images, I’ll post a slideshow. So make a note to check back. Meanwhile, why not add a comment to this post? Comments make me happy. Just click the ‘Comment’ link at the bottom of the post and, well, add a comment.

This is Alex in the early stages of preparation. And the ghostly figure in the window behind is bridesmaid, Ali:

Tom with best man, Nick, soothing nerves with single malt:

The car, an MG classic:

A brother and sister who very kindly agreed to hold hands and run as fast as they could at the camera. Risky, but fun:

Those wellies I was telling you about:

The crazy people I was telling you about:

The first dance, just before they launched into some impressive swing:

John and Naomi at Inverlochy Castle

Wednesday, 10th September, 2008

John and Naomi were married last Saturday at Inverlochy Castle. It was a privilege to be a part of their day. Here are a few previews - a slideshow with a lot more images coming soon…

This is Morgan. She was very good to us! We had her running up and down stairs, whirling like a mad Alice in Wonderland, and all sorts of other nonsense, and she just smiled and giggled the whole day. She’s a wonderful little girl.

And this bridesmaid, this cute, cute, CUTE little bridesmaid, is Maddy. I can honestly say I have never encountered a ten month old who can “work the camera” like she can!

Naomi…

John…

And this is the majestic and beautiful Inverlochy Castle. Incredible place for a wedding, and the food actually makes you float.
