Process

Overview

For those less familiar with commissioning a photographer, this is a summary of my four step process:

Step 1: The Brief

Your brief should be as detailed as possible to help me provide an accurate estimate of costs. It should include the kind of images you want, approximate number required, and details about the media in which they will be used.

If you’re not sure about the brief I can provide free consultation.

When the brief is defined I send an estimate and, once approved, a booking confirmation form and Terms and Conditions. Then I block out the time in my calendar.

Step 2: Production

Nearly all photographic subjects benefit from "styling". It’s important to be clear about who is responsible for this and what they will do. I’m quite happy to assume this role and can provide advice about what will be necessary based on the brief.

Step 3: The Shoot

I work as quickly and efficiently as possible, causing minimal disruption to your daily flow without compromising the image quality for which you are paying.

Step 4: Proofing and Mastering

Usually within 24 hours of the shoot I upload partially edited images to an online proofing gallery (a physical contact sheet can also be sent if required).

During the next 7 days (longer by agreement) you and/or your team select "keepers", which are then promoted to the digital mastering phase: each of your selections is given expert treatment in Photoshop® where the real magic of professional digital photography occurs.

Fully edited images in formats for both print and web are uploaded within 7 days (48 hours with the express service) to a private webpage from where you can download them. I keep this page on the server for 14 days, providing an option to extend if required.

In summary, I use the latest in digital and online technology to provide optimum quality as efficiently as possible.
