FAQ

What is your photographic style at weddings?
Natural: for much of the day my approach is very discreet. After a while you’ll hardly notice I’m there, but the result will be a collection of images that tell - beautifully - the story of your wedding day.
Creative: during convenient breaks in the day I’ll briefly whisk you both away to places where the light is great to create images with more artistry and design.
Personal: time is also devoted to catching memorable images of your guests.
Flexible: as a professional providing a service I adapt to your vision and taste.

What does your service include?
First I find out what’s important to you, and what’s not, and then tailor my approach to your wedding. So my service is built around the following meetings:
The Pre-Booking Consultation: where I find out as much as possible about your hopes for your wedding photography, and you can see sample images and ask any questions you may have.
The Pre-Wedding Shoot: where I capture some relaxed images of you both before you tie the knot. From these images I can provide either a fine-art print in a large mount or a custom-designed guest book for your wedding day.
The Wedding Day: where I capture for you the magic of the day in as relaxed and fun a way as possible.
The Viewing Session: where you see the results for the first time and re-live the day for a while. I’ll provide a slideshow for you in my viewing theatre, and you’ll have all the time you need to select images you’d like, along with any a la carte extras.

How much will it cost us?
Prices start at £950 for digital options (hi-res images on disk) and £1250 for album options. All options are flexible enough to build a package that suits you. For more detail see the Prices Page, or if you’d like to discuss options and prices in more depth, don’t hesitate to contact me.

How can I plan for wedding Photos?
Although for much of the day my approach is spontaneous and unplanned, for the widest selection of images you should try to schedule:
- A session with the bride (and bridesmaids) after preparations.
- A private session with the bride and groom as soon as possible after the ceremony. The bonus here is you can quietly enjoy the fact you just got married!
- A session for group photos between ceremony and reception. Two weeks before the wedding I ask for a list of groups and the name of a persuasive usher who can gather participants at a set time and place. Pre-defining this session makes it enjoyable and stops it eating into your day.
The length of these sessions is up to you. My advice: just long enough to get shots that make you happy when you see them!

How many pictures do you take?
As many creative images as I can in the time available. During your viewing session you will normally see 20 - 30 images per hour of coverage.

Can I make my own prints?
If you buy the digital negatives you can do anything you want with them, as long as it doesn’t generate any income for you or the people you give them to.

What equipment do you use?
Top-of-the-range Nikon digital SLR camera bodies, professional lenses and several flashguns. Plus a small room full of computer stuff for digital processing.
Because there are no re-shoots at weddings I also have back-up equipment in case of malfunction, and an effective system in place for safeguarding digital images (see below).

How do you safeguard digital images?
I store backup copies of digital images on up to three separate hard drives (one off-site) for up to three years after each wedding. Before finally deleting images to make room for more recent weddings I give clients an opportunity to purchase them if they haven’t already.
