Portraits

What I Do

Time keeps passing, and from moment to moment those you love are changing. I help you catch and keep those moments - memories of how they were - with creative and beautiful images.

My Style

The real aim of a portrait is to capture the spirit of a person in an image. This requires sensitivity and responsiveness, so I stay flexible. Sometimes an unstructured approach gets results, other times a more controlled set-up in the studio. Sometimes a sophisticated black and white image on fine-art paper looks fantastic, other times a punchy, colour-saturated glossy print. I believe the style should fit the person photographed, not the other way around.

So you see a range of approaches in the images on this site, but in all of them I hope you see something of the spirit of the person I’m photographing.

My Service

I spend time with you, find out what’s important and what’s not, and tailor my approach accordingly. I build my service around the following meetings:

  • The Pre-Booking Meeting, when I find out more about what you’re looking for, and you see samples of my products.
  • The Portrait Shoot, which is a relaxed event, either on location or at the studio.
  • The Viewing Session, when you select the images and products you’d like.

Rates

The session fee (up to 2 hours) is £45 at the studio, £75 on location (no travel expenses within 30 miles of my studio near Inverness; 40p/mile thereafter). All other costs depend on your selections at the viewing session.
